November 7, 2010 In 1996 I ran as a Republican for Lt. Governor of the State Of Delaware against Ruth Ann Minner (D). Minner went on to become Governor. She and I grew to respect and befriend each other having to make speeches on the same stage night after night. What stands out most in my mind from the campaign was Delaware politicians understand that at the end of the day their first responsibility is to betterment of Delawareans and party loyalty was second priority. I got to watch, now Vice President Joseph Biden (D), who was running for reelection to the US Senate on this same stage. US Representative Michael Castle (R) also appeared in his run for reelection. Delawareans elected both Biden and Castle, so splitting votes is the Delaware norm. But my second key learning was Delawareans demand civility in political campaigns. This means dirty politics is a kiss of death. Hence, my guess is the Tea Party Movement (Ku Klux Klan) was taken aback that Delawareans trounced them in the 2010 Midterm election by going overwhelmingly for Democratic statewide candidates. Delawareans demonstrated great wisdom in seeing through Tea Party Movement fear mongering and racial dividedness. Yet the loss of the US House of Representatives to the Republicans emboldened the Republican leadership in the House and Senate to speak to upending President Barack Obama on the healthcare law. What these rightwing juggernauts failed to say is their intention is to re-enslave the American worker for they want to preserve the corporate tether that will be critical in keeping people from feely changing jobs as the economy turns into an employee’s market. The real tragedy is at the end of the day Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Ky. and House Republican leader John Boehner of Ohio (presumed Speaker of the House) will make the American people suffer unnecessary joblessness two more years while they attempt to make President Barack Obama appear as a failure. My belief is President Barack Obama will get reelected and Republican tomfoolery may send a number of the Tea Party Movement darlings packing as in Delaware. Share my passion on the Republican Party sinning against the American people.
